Looking for summer reading? Clay Shirky's Here Comes Everyone is not only readable poolside, it also has us thinking of how we can use web-based tools even more effectively to help nonprofits leverage the passion of their communities. Check out his talk at the Web 2.0 Conference. Congrats to the lucky winner of a copy of Here Comes Everyone in our July newsletter contest.
At the third annual Web 2.0-tools-for-social-change Net Squared conference in San Jose, Senior Consultants Joel Bush and Rachel Weidinger were challenged with how we can take the mashup concept even further, providing insights into pressure points for change. We're pleased to share a new online fundraising concept that Common Knowledge is pioneering–read an excerpt from our white paper on the topic:
Common Knowledge presents a new concept in online fundraising—Rapid Donor Cultivation (RDC). The motivation for this service is the maximization of the return on investment (ROI) of a nonprofit’s email subscriber acquisition efforts. In order to increase revenue from email direct marketing programs, a nonprofit fundraising online needs to grow their online subscriber base. Therefore, they find themselves with an increasingly larger expenditure on acquiring new email subscribers. It quickly becomes apparent that it is crucial to focus on both the long-term ROI and the elapsed time to the first gift—both crucial components of their increasing acquisition costs.
The full whitepaper will be available July 23, 2008. Download the full white paper now, and learn how we increased the rate of conversion of Subscribers to Donors by 83% over the previous year. We include helpful screenshots of one very successful campaign.
For this case study we focus on the Spring 2007 Seal Hunt Campaign which demonstrates our strong work with campaign site design, advocacy, fundraising, and list-building working with IFAW. This campaign, running from January to May 2007, targeted the Canadian Seal Hunt with an international advocacy appeal to stop the slaughter of Harp seals for their coats. Read the full case study here.
We are engaged at every level with Sierra Club to expand their online giving program – membership, issue appeals, and emergency relief; increase and leverage their massive e-activist community, and design/develop a comprehensive social networking strategy, community and three websites. Read the full overview here.
